AV Systems Design Engineer

Spye, a national leader in integrated system technology, is seeking an AV Design Engineer with a working knowledge of AV system design. The individual must be friendly, creative, able to learn on the fly, and have interest and proficiency in AV and technology in general. The AV Design Engineer will collaborate with Spye’s sales and project teams to deliver competitive, cutting edge solutions that exceed customer expectations. The position is responsible for the technical design and specification of customer solutions, primarily for the commercial market. The list of requirements below is ideal. Responsibilities:

·      Consult with the Sales team to establishcustomer needs and present solutions to customers.

·      Determine client expectations for systemfunctionality through communication with the sales department and client.

·      With the sales department, recommend generaland specific solutions to clients.

·      Design complete systems forquoting including equipment, parts, consumables, and labor.

·      Diagram systems using AutoCAD and Visio.

·      Work with a project manager to manage proposalsincluding coordination of installers with end client and tracking of time andmaterials.  

·      Collaboratingwith sales team to create timely and accurate proposals in D-Tools,coordinating with sales to apply targeted profit percentages

·      Conductingsite surveys to gather the information necessary to create accurate proposals

·      Supportingsales process as needed with pre-sale drawings/modeling/documentation

·      Research new products to remain current ontechnology solutions.

·      Some travel to customer site and/or Spyeoffices in Minneapolis

·      All other duties as assigned and deemedappropriate.

Required:

·      3 to 5 years (or more) experience in theaudio/visual field

·      AVIXA CTS Certification achieved or in sight

·      Knowledge of the following productlines/protocols/concepts: Extron, Crestron, Shure, Cisco/Polycom, Teams/ZoomRooms, Dante, AV over IP, video walls (LCD & LED), IPTV, digital signage, networktopology

·      Proficient in the use of AutoCAD and VISIO

·      Experience with Windows OS and the MicrosoftOffice Suite

·      Ability to read construction documents toinform AV design decisions related to building construction and infrastructure

·      Knowledge of installation of products such asceiling/wall mounted speakers, displays, cameras, cabling infrastructure, AVracks, wall plates and interfaces (audio, video, or control), microphones(ceiling, table, wired or wireless)

·      Excellent Verbal & Written CommunicationSkills

·      Strong Attention to Detail & Processes

·      Commitment to maintaining an expert level ofknowledge regarding existing and emerging AV technologies, seeking out trainingand certifications beneficial for personal growth

Preferred:

·      Experience with D-Tools quoting/design software

·      AVIXA CTS-D Certification

·      Technical or BS degree in related field
